The faded grandeur of Tripoli: Rachid Karami Fairground

Image

This theatre is hardly ever used

A great piece on Tripoli by Josh Wood: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/13/world/middleeast/lebanese-port-drifts-amid-conflicts.html?pagewanted=all. I went up there with him, it really is the best symbol for Tripoli’s hope and decay. The Rashid Karami Fairground is one of the strangest places to visit; one of the only green spaces in the city, yet closed off and abandoned.
